Hanaan Louis

Hanaan Louis is a Black, Muslim, third cultured, director, writer, and photographer, based out of NYC, LA, and Kuwait. Her bilingual thesis film, Henna, won Best Short at the BMGFly Film Festival in 2020, and received an Honorable Mention Award at Dubai Film Fest in 2022. Her work typically depicts Muslim-centric stories that range from drama to surrealist humor, to coming-of-age, and narratives from the perspective of women and children. Most of her work scrutinizes the psychology and nuance behind people’s behavior, and explores what it means to be human. She recently launched her production, photography, and online digital media company.‍
